Game news NFT: A flagship license from Square Enix is reborn… in the metaverse The Sandbox
Decidedly, everyone is meeting in the metaverse The Sandbox of the French Pixowl. After Ubisoft, Atari and even Adidas and Carrefour, it’s Square Enix’s turn to buy land in this gigantic game that gives pride of place to NFTs.
Square Enix brings a legend back to life…
This is news that will make players scold, especially fans of the Dungeon Siege license. While the famous hack’n’slash franchise has not had the right to a new opus for almost 10 years now – as a reminder, Dungeon Siege III was released in 2011 – Square Enix has now decided to breathe new life into the saga… However, this revival will take a particular form. In effect, like the Rabbids from Ubisoft, the Dungeon Siege series will make a comeback in The Sandboxthe metaverse signed Pixowl.
The Sandbox (…) announced today that it has partnered with Square Enix to bring the legendary RPG intellectual property, Dungeon Siege, to The Sandbox gaming metaverse.
…but it won’t appeal to everyone
This new collaboration between Animoca Brands, the publisher of The Sandbox, and Square Enix allows the metaverse to host a Dungeon Siege Land which will offer the most curious among you the opportunity to participate in events and interactive experiences related to the universe of the Dungeon Siege saga.
That’s not all, we also learn that this Dungeon Siege Land “will make Dungeon Siege voxel characters and objects available to players and creators”. These NFTs, free or not, can be retrieved by players to create their own interactive experiences.
Dungeon Siege has always been an inspiring adventure and entering The Sandbox metaverse to allow players to create their own adventures opens an exciting new chapter for the franchise. We can’t wait to see Dungeon Siege come to life in The Sandbox. Hideaki Uehara, Business Development Manager of Square Enix
If Square Enix has not disclosed the number of plots of land it has purchased in The Sandbox game, note that Ubisoft has already acquired nearly 570 plots (out of the 150,000 available).
