SPARTANBURG, SC — Aaron Rodgers offered some advice to first draft pick Bryce Young, who is regarding to make his NFL debut.
“Be kind to yourself,” Rodgers recommended.
The 39-year-old quarterback said every throw-in or practice can feel like the end of the world when things aren’t going well. “That’s not true,” he added.
“It’s a very long road,” Rodgers said. It’s regarding keeping your confidence and enjoying the ride, enjoying the little things every day. But I think he has a good head on his shoulders. He’s going to do just fine. »
Rodgers played 18 seasons for the Green Bay Packers. Wednesday was the first time he faced a team as a member of the New York Jets, when they and the Carolina Panthers held a paired practice at Wofford College.
Rodgers introduced himself to Young before practice. He said he’s been following his journey with interest since his days with Alabama in the NCAA.
“I like the way he rides,” Rodgers said. I like the way he moves and the way he throws the ball. Carolina is in good hands. »
The Jets and Panthers will also train together Thursday for their exhibition showdown in Charlotte on Saturday.
Young will be the starting quarterback for the Panthers but Rodgers will not play, Jets coach Robert Saleh said.
“He knows his body, he’s been doing this for a long time,” Saleh said. There is no doubt that he will be ready for Week 1.”
