NFL: “Prejudice against black quarterbacks persists”, says Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens says despite all his success, he still has something to show for himself as a black quarterback in the NFL.

Jackson discussed this issue while appearing on the LeBron James show called The Shopwhich premiered on YouTube on Friday.

When the interview turned to these historical biases once morest quarterbacks, James said, “It’s dying out, but it’s still there.”

Jackson replied, “It’s still there. That’s why I have to win a championship. »

James touched on a quirk of Jackson’s benchmark testing four years ago, shortly before the 2018 draft.

The Louisville University product was asked to perform wide receiver runs.

“Why were you asked such a thing?” asked “King James”. That year, however, Jackson had won the Heisman Trophy in the NCAA.

“I have no idea,” replied his guest.

In 2018, Jackson became the fourth black quarterback in league history to win the MVP award. Overall, he is 37-12 in the NFL, but only 1-3 in the playoffs.
