Week 5 of the NFL was regarding location

Eduardo Varela analyzes San Francisco’s victory once morest Dallas, the virtues of the Jets and the defects of the Patriots.

A look at the pecking order of the league’s 32 clubs, according to our experts, following the fifth day of on-field action

For the first time so far the 2023 regular seasona team manages to remain in the place of honor of our NFL Power Rankings ESPN for consecutive days.

Los San Francisco 49ers They gave a show of absolute power on Sunday night, and they remain, along with the Philadelphia Eagles –who also retained their position as escorts of the leader in our weekly list, as the only undefeated teams in the NFL.

In the background, one of the two teams that did not know the victory achieved its first victory of the year, with the Chicago Bears leaving the Carolina Panthers as the only organization still left with a huge donut in the games won column. How long will that zero last for the team that chose first in the last NFL draft?

Without further ado, we present the NFL Power Rankings ESPN following the Week 5 of the regular season:

For the first time this season a leader maintains the top in consecutive weeks, plus there are multiple movements in our hierarchical list.ESPN

Note: The number in the first parenthesis indicates that team’s place in last week’s rankings. In the second parenthesis, the team’s current brand appears.

San Francisco is the best in the NFL heading into Week 5, and there’s probably no one who comes close. They have elite players in several positions, a quarterback who enhances the virtues of their offensive scheme thanks to quick reading and good processing of information. On top of everything, they have great roster depth and as a team, they are in very good health at this point in the campaign. — R.Z.

Jalen Hurts has thrown five touchdowns and four interceptions in the last four weeks, if the Eagles want to extend their undefeated record they need more consistency from their quarterback in the passing game or those turnovers will end up taking their toll. — E.C.

Miami returned to the path of victory in a resounding way and, incidentally, they received help from London with the defeat of the Bills at the hands of the Jaguars to retake the top of the AL East alone. Against the Eagles, in two weeks, it will be their next big test. –LMV

The Chiefs continue to win without crushing their opponents as many expect, and there’s nothing wrong with that in the month of October. Of course, we should not rest on our laurels, and continue working on polishing the areas that have not responded during the start of the campaign. In particular, the wide receiver group needs to increase its production. Kansas City got a huge scare with Travis Kelce, and the thought of playing without their star tight end with the current group of wide receivers does not lead to happy thoughts. — R.Z.

After a slump in which he threw interceptions in three straight games — a streak in which the Lions suffered their only loss of the season — Jared Goff had another turnover-free performance in the blowout victory over the Panthers. If Detroit plays that error-free football from Week 1 once more, they might be a serious contender in the NFC. — E.C.

The balm for Buffalo following the defeat in London — and the loss of Matt Milan— is that at least their next two games look like a sure victory and it will be until the game once morest Philadelphia (at the end of November) when they will face a legitimate contender once more. –LMV

Nothing like a Cowboys loss to make everyone exaggerate and magnify the setback 1,000 percent. There’s nothing wrong with losing to the best team in the league, and while it’s true that they were completely outmatched in every phase of the game, who hasn’t been outmatched by San Francisco thus far? If there’s a good time to stumble and pick yourself up, it’s now, particularly during what figures to be the toughest part of Dallas’ schedule. The response following the recent setback will tell us a lot more regarding this team than losing a Week 5 game. — RZ

The defense is what will dictate how far the Steelers go this season, that’s for sure… at least until Kenny Pickett consistently shows the level he displayed in the final five minutes of the win over the Ravens. — E.C.

Tampa Bay is coming off its bye week and, something that few of us predicted, is that they would appear at the top of the South of the National League, but both the Falcons and the Saints won their games on Sunday and continue to put pressure on the Florida team. Against the Lions, at home, they will be able to measure their true level. –LMV

Seattle’s greatest virtue so far this season has been taking care of the ball, following the Seahawks have only given up possession of the ball once at the start of the season, the fewest in the entire NFL. — R.Z.

The Jaguars’ victory over the Bills in London should not be detracted from the long journey Buffalo made. The only reason Jacksonville held its opponents to just 29 rushing yards was due to a solid defensive performance, not jet lag. — E.C.

Divisional duels – and mainly once morest Pittsburgh – tend to be a reserved one, but the loss on the road, due to the form, is a hard blow to the team’s morale because these same Steelers had just been overwhelmed by the Texans. –LMV

A new injury for Anthony Richardson and the Colts’ development plan for their rookie quarterback is once once more on hold. There will be those who criticize the way the quarterback is used in the running game, exposing him to a lot of contact, but the modern NFL game with mobile quarterbacks who can threaten defenses on the ground requires these types of risks, to a certain degree. In any case, Richardson’s concussion and now shoulder injury in his short career should not be considered a trend for his NFL career. — R.Z.

Desmond Ridder was able to silence some critics with his performance on Sunday once morest the Texans, leading a drive to advance 56 yards in less than 2 minutes in which the Falcons scored the winning field goal. Some of us still point to the fact that he did it once morest Houston, which was the second-worst team in the NFL last season for a reason.

After starting the season 0-2, they entered their bye week with a 2-2 record and now a great challenge awaits them when they host the Cowboys to see if they really woke up or the wins once morest the Vikings and Raiders were a mirage. –LMV

The Saints completely dismantled the Patriots, handing Bill Belichick one of the worst defeats he has ever had a part in in his long career in the NFL. For New Orleans, it’s a necessary boost to the club’s confidence, but with the warning label that not all problems are solved following a tremendous blowout. Including declined handkerchiefs, the Saints are the second most penalized team in the NFL, with 46, just above the Panthers and their 49. — RZ

The bye week must have gone well for Cleveland to fully recover quarterback Deshaun Watson and find ways to keep its banged-up rushing attack going. Best of all for the Browns, their division remains virtually the same as it was before taking their bye week. — E.C.

After two consecutive wins in which they scored 30 points or more, the offense was limited to only 19 points and the defense looked far from what it had shown in its last presentations, but even so they continue to leave better feelings than expected. –LMV

Not that there is a huge range of great alternatives on the Titans bench, but in Nashville they have to seriously think regarding whether it is worth continuing to start games with Ryan Tannehill, if the season continues as it goes. Perhaps, it is time to kick off a new era, either with Will Levis o Malik Willis, and accept that Tannehill can serve more as a mentor for the club’s long-term future. That’s not going to improve the win and loss ratio much in Tennessee, but at least it will start with a project that, sooner rather than later, will have to start anyway. — R.Z.

The defense woke up and the Raiders ended a three-game losing streak, that’s no coincidence. Jordan Love threw three interceptions and was sacked twice by Las Vegas, which now must maintain that level to keep the team competitive, because nothing good happened in the last three weeks when they left the responsibility in the hands of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. — E.C.

Joe Burrow had his first game of more than 300 yards through the air and Ja’Marr Chase He visited the end zone for the first time this year when he broke out with three touchdowns, but the four previous appearances in the campaign suggest that we be cautious before saying that they are back. –LMV

The return of Cooper Coup The action was notable for the Rams’ attack. It’s a shame that he only plays the wide receiver position, because the Angelenos require urgent help in several positions on the roster. — R.Z.

The Jets enjoyed what might be their sweetest victory in a long time. New York allowed offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to respond to Sean Payton’s criticism on the field during the offseason. These are the kind of results that can unite a team that is facing as much adversity as the Jets. — E.C.

It is true that once morest the Raiders they arrived very diminished with the losses of Aaron Jones, De’Vondre Campbell y David Bakhtiari –in addition to those that were added during the game–, but the coaching staff was exposed for not knowing how to adjust to contain Maxx Crosby. — LMV

Five directed passes in an entire game to Terry McLaurin It’s an unforgivable miss for the Commanders’ offense, particularly once morest a Bears defense that allows the seventh-highest completion rate and second-highest yards per pass attempt average in the league. — R.Z.

At 1-4 and star wide receiver Justin Jefferson is out due to injury indefinitely, it’s best for the Vikings to start thinking regarding next season. It would be very disappointing if Minnesota still has aspirations this year while relying on a running game that has failed to score a single touchdown this season. — E.C.

Matt Eberflus got a real boost of oxygen with the victory once morest the Commanders and that will give them a lot of confidence for their next game at home once morest Minnesota, but what is at stake for that match is avoiding the bottom of the division. –LMV

The worst game of Joshua Dobbs as Cardinals quarterback he arrived on the day when the Arizona defense had no answer to Ja’Marr Chase, leading to a comfortable defeat. By the way, there is still no clear date for the return of Kyler Murray to the alignment. — R.Z.

It’s not flattering when your defense scores more points than your offense, but that’s where the Giants are right now and it might get worse if quarterback Daniel Jones — who is no guarantee — has to miss significant playing time. for the injury he suffered in Miami. — E.C.

In Denver, they must be grateful that there is still a team without a win this year and the worst version that has been seen of the Patriots with Bill Belichick because, week following week, they are fighting hard to be the worst franchise on our hierarchical list. –LMV

From bad to worse, the Patriots have become the laughing stock of the American Conference, following being the dynasty that reigned over the league for most of the last two decades and a fraction. The attack makes no head or tail, and the defense that used to be the support of the organization does not have many arguments. You have to see what Bill Belichick means when he says that we will have to “start from scratch.” — R.Z.

Was it really a good decision to draft Bryce Young with the first overall pick in the draft? The Panthers have lacked an offensive spark this season largely because of the rookie quarterback’s struggles early in his NFL career, but it would be a great injustice to blame Young alone for the disaster that has been Carolina, especially defensively, where they rank 28th in the league in points allowed. — E.C.

The following participated in the preparation of these Power Rankings: Erick Cervantes (EC), Luis Miguel Vasavilbaso (LMV) and Rafael Zamorano (RZ).
