As a result of his suspension, Eyioma Uwazurike will miss the entire 2023 NFL season. He cannot apply for reinstatement until July 24, 2024. The Broncos released a statement on Monday regarding Uwazurike’s suspension (“The Denver Post”).
“We were informed today by the NFL that Eyioma Uwazurike has been suspended indefinitely by the league for violating gambling policies,” the team wrote in its statement.
“Our organization has fully cooperated with this investigation and takes matters affecting the integrity of the game very seriously. The Denver Broncos will continue to provide all members of our organization with the training, resources and support necessary to ensure compliance with NFL gaming policies.”
Eyioma Uwazurike: Repeated violations of NFL guidelines
Uwazurike is one of several players suspended for violating the league’s gambling guidelines. In late June, the NFL suspended four players indefinitely, including Colts players Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry.
Those bans followed April’s indefinite suspensions of Shaka Toney from the Commanders and Quintez Cephus and CJ Moore from the Lions. Detroit’s Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill were also banned for six games for violating the league’s gambling guidelines.
Uwazurike was selected by Denver in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft following playing college football at Iowa State. As a rookie, he played in eight games, recording 17 tackles and two quarterback hits.
