NFL Touchdown: Germany Welcomes Season Game, Berlin Poised for Historic Debut
The NFL is amplifying its international presence, announcing a historic move that will bring its first-ever league game to Berlin, Germany, in 2025. The matchup, taking place at the iconic Olympic Stadium, marks a major milestone in a multiyear deal to play regular-season games in the German capital.
Building on a Growing Fanbase in Germany
This expansion builds on the NFL’s growing footprint in Germany. Regular season games have already taken place in Munich and Frankfurt since 2022. The Berlin matchup marks the fifth regular-season game in Germany, highlighting the league’s commitment to expanding its international offerings.
“Germany has a rich tradition of-football, and the NFL has a deep history with the city of Berlin,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell emphasized.

From Preseason to Global Stage
Beyond this historic Berlin matchup, the NFL is slated to play up to eight international games per season starting in 2025. Two games in London and one in Madrid are confirmed, with more international locations to be revealed.

Berlin’s Olympic Stadium boasts a storied history, having hosted the 1936 Summer Olympic Games, the FIFA Men’s World Cup (1974 and 2006), a FIFA Women’s World Cup (2011), six UEFA EURO 2024 matches, including the championship, and world and European athletics championships.
