Former Detroit Lions linebacker Jessie Lemonier has died at the age of 25. The Lions made the announcement.
No details were released on the cause of death.
Lemonier was drafted by the Arlington Renegades of the XFL last November, but recently signed a contract with the Houston Gamblers of the USFL for the next season.
He played seven games with the Lions in 2021, finishing with 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He was signed by the Arizona Cardinals in the summer of 2022 and recorded a quarterback sack in a preseason game. He had been released during training camp.
Lemonier’s agent Drew Smith told ESPN that the player and his girlfriend are expecting a child.

Lemonier was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted player in 2020. He appeared in six games.
