According to the daily “Fort Worth Star-Telegram”, the former Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears was at his home in Frisco, Texas, when the police discovered his body. He was 38 years old.

Barber played seven seasons in the NFL, including appearing in the Pro Bowl in 2007. He had 4,780 yards and 53 rushing touchdowns during his career, which ended in 2012.

Since his retirement, Barber has had his share of difficulties. He was notably detained and subjected to a psychiatric evaluation by the Mansfield police in 2014.

Last year, his ex-teammate Dez Bryant shared a video of Barber on Twitter, adding that he “mightn’t enjoy his highlights because he knew how bad he was doing.”
