  • Panthers trade for number one pick
  • DJ Moore as an addition
  • Fields is the future of Chicago

The guesswork is over as to what the Chicago Bears will do with their number one pick in the upcoming NFL draft. As Ian Rapoport reports, the rights to the draft’s most valuable pick are changing hands – in the direction of Carolina.

Panthers traden vor Draft

In return, the Panthers are sending the 9th pick in this year’s draft, the 61st pick in 2023, their first-round pick in 2024, and their second-round pick in 2025 to the Bears. In addition, wide receiver DJ Moore is moving to the Chicago Bears, who have thus secured another wide receiver via trade following Chase Claypool.

For the Carolina Panthers, who have initiated a rebuild with their new head coach Frank Reich, all doors on the quarterback market are open. Whether the choice will ultimately fall on Bryce Young (Alabama), CJ Stroud (Ohio State), Will Levis (Kentucky) or Anthony Richardson (Florida) will be decided on April 27 when the first round of the NFL draft officially begins. In the past, the Panthers had tried Kyle Allen, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, among others, but had not achieved consistency in the most important position in football.

NFL: Recently numerous discussions

In the past few weeks and months, there has been increasing debate as to whether the Chicago Bears will use their pick to choose the best player available, potentially secure one of the coveted rookie quarterbacks, or stick with Justin Fields. The trade confirms that the Bears are convinced they have found their franchise quarterback in Justin Fields and want to surround him with other key players in the draft and free agency.

With wide receiver DJ Moore, who recorded 888 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns last season, Fields is already getting another elite pass recipient, who was already very popular with many teams last season, before the trade deadline.
