NFL: Aaron Rodgers thanks those around him and raises questions about his future

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a decision regarding his future with the Green Bay Packers.

The star quarterback made that claim at Pat McAfee Showon Tuesday, following stoking speculation regarding his future on Monday night by thanking his current and former teammates and coaches in an Instagram post.

“It’s a testament to the friendship and the love and the bond that we have collectively and individually in our friendships,” said the reigning NFL MVP.

Rodgers revealed at the end of the season that he would try to make a decision on his intentions for 2022 at relatively short notice rather than dragging out the process. The four-time MVP mentioned at the time that he hadn’t ruled out any options, including a return to the Packers for an 18th season, retirement or a trade request.

In his Instagram post Monday night, Rodgers thanked Packers coach Matt LaFleur and backup quarterbacks Jordan Love and Kurt Benkert as well as former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and quarterbacks coach Luke Getsy.

“You made every day so enjoyable and I’m so grateful for the daily laughs and stress freeness you contributed every week of the year,” Rodgers said. I love you. »

Hackett left the Packers to become head coach of the Denver Broncos. Getsy also left to become the Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator.

The list of people Rodgers thanked by name also includes Packers teammates Randall Cobb and David Bakhtiari.

“To my teammates, past and present, you are the icing on the beautiful cake that we call our job: football,” he continued. The friendships we have developed will transcend the years and I am so grateful for the role each of you have played in making my life even better. I love you guys and cherish the memories we had together. »

The post was accompanied by various photos of Rodgers on and off the field.

Rodgers won his second consecutive MVP award less than two weeks ago. The Packers went 13-4 in the regular season and won a third straight National Conference North title before falling 13-10 at home to the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs.
