The trial of the Brazilian star Neymar, the French player of Paris Saint-Germain, will resume, on charges of possible deception, when he moved from the Brazilian Santos to Barcelona in 2013.
The special sessions of the court hearing the case, which includes Neymar, his father, and the former leaders of Barcelona and Santos, will start tomorrow, Monday in Barcelona, in light of the accusations they face regarding deception and unfair competition, with regard to concealing the true value of Neymar’s transfer deal from Santos to Barcelona, in order to avoid Paid huge sums to DAS, the Brazilian company that asserts that it owns 40% of the player’s rights.
The Brazilian company demanded that Neymar and his father, who also acts as his agent, as well as the former presidents of Barcelona, Sandro Rosell and Josep Bartomeu, be imprisoned for five years.
All the accused denied any wrongdoing.
The Brazilian company obtained only its share of the initial value of the deal, which Barcelona and Santos confirmed as 17 million euros, while the real value of the deal was 82 million euros, while an investigative judge in Spain confirmed that the value of the deal amounted to 83 million and 300,000 euros.
