A helicopter owned by Neymar collaborated for the first time on Wednesday, May 8 in the evacuation of people affected by the floods that have left a large part of the metropolitan area of the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre under water.

The helicopter with the registration number PP-NRJ, alluding to Neymar Júnior’s initials, traveled to Porto Alegre to bring supplies and groceries donated by the Brazilian soccer player.

On the return flight, he evacuated a woman who arrived on a stretcher to a care point for those affected set up by the rescue forces on the BR-116 highway, in the municipality of Eldorado do Sul, one of the most affected by the floods, as witnessed by journalists from Agencia EFE.

Eldorado do Sul, a municipality of 42,000 inhabitants, is completely flooded by the unprecedented flooding of the Guaíba River.

The star of the Brazilian national team and the Saudi Al-Hilal announced on May 7 that he was sending his private plane loaded with food and aid for those affected by the floods, which have caused immense damage in southern Brazil.

I don’t like to publish everything I do or what I help with, because those who do it… do it from the heart and not out of commitment. So this message is to encourage people to help even more“said Neymar on his social networks.

The storms, which began more than a week ago, have already caused 100 deaths in Rio Grande do Sul and another death in the neighboring state of Santa Catarina, also affected by the phenomenon although with a lower intensity.

The most recent official balance adds that there are also 128 missing and 372 injured in Rio Grande do Sul, where 80% of the municipalities are totally or partially under water, and some 230,500 people have had to leave their homes.

The total number of victims of the climate disaster is around 1.5 million people, many of whom are waiting to be rescued from the most affected areas.

Thousands of homes and infrastructure, such as bridges or roads, were also destroyed, and the Porto Alegre airport has become an immense lagoon, which has forced it to completely interrupt its operations until the end of this month.
