Asunción, IP Agency.- The start of the interventions to improve Mariscal López Avenue, from Madame Lynch (D066) to the Yberá intersection, in San Lorenzo, is scheduled for next week. A total amount of G. 54,087,089,570 will be allocated.
The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that the first activities will consist of patching tasks in critical areas, with the presence of machinery on the track, so traffic will be on half a lane at the intervened points.
To minimize inconvenience during peak hours, night work will be emphasized, implementing extensive signage with the accompaniment of the Highway Patrol in order to guarantee the safety of workers and drivers, as announced by the institution.
Hydraulic works
Regarding the hydraulic part, the works are scheduled to begin in January, taking advantage of the lower influx of traffic, covering five main points: the area of the National University of Asunción (UNA), in San Lorenzo, the “Curva of Death ”, in front of the Stock supermarket and at the intersections with Luis Alberto Paraná and Cerro Porteño streets, in Fernando de la Mora.
The section to be improved has a total extension of 6.3 km where various items are planned to be executed such as: soil movement, paving, asphalt irrigation, works of art and drainage, construction of cellular sewers, thermoplastic horizontal signaling and application of cement concrete Portland.
As well as resurfacing, ditch curbs and improvement of alternative roads that will serve as detours during the execution of the project, whose term is 12 months, with an additional period of 18 months of maintenance. All this is carried out by the awarded firm, Tecnoedil SA. Construction company for an amount of G. 54,087,089,570.
This new initiative seeks to strengthen road safety, reduce traffic congestion and improve the functioning of the infrastructure in one of the busiest accesses to the capital.
According to records from the Vice Ministry of Transportation, more than 600,000 vehicles enter Asunción daily, representing approximately 1,300,000 people.
