The possibility of buying and selling land-registered real estate through the digital transfer file also opens up for legal entities. “Next week, the platform on gov.gr will be ready for real estate transfers by legal entities,” announced Mr. Konstantinos Kyranakis, Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, from the stage of the 25th Prodexpo.
Mr. Kyranakis emphasized that in the coming weeks, solutions will be announced that will help to capture the price of a property or a property zone, spatially and temporally. He also revealed that the ministry is working together with the Greek Banks Association and the Bar Association on a solution for the automatic digital pre-notification of a property.
“We are trying to bring order to a chaos and resolve a two-century-old backlog. After 200 years the system of the old mortgage offices is ending. In two months, a single entity will be responsible for citizens’ real estate, putting an end to the confusion,” noted Mr. Kyranakis.
He emphasized that in 2025 a road race begins for the completion of the land registration of the country, after 30 years. As he said, today we are at 52%, in January we will reach 75%, with the aim of having a complete Land Register at the end of next year. He explained that the Land Register will be fully digital, enabling the citizen to have access to all the data, but also to the lawyer to have access from his computer to the old mortgage registry file.
The Deputy Minister of Digital Governance also referred to the facilities provided for by the recently passed law on the Land Registry for a number of issues, such as the so-called properties of unknown owners, the unilateral amendment of the constitution of ownership and the simplification of the procedures for those forest properties that have a declassification decision.
