ÖFB legionnaire Christoph Baumgartner is a sought-following man on the transfer market.
Following recent interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, another German Bundesliga side appears to have targeted Baumgartner. According to “Sky” information, the new prospect is RB Leipzig.
Leipzig’s interest in Baumgartner is “not yet hot,” wrote Sky reporter Phillip Hinze, but the Saxons have already knocked on Baumgartner’s door.
Only half the transfer fee in the event of relegation
As in the case of Eintracht, a lot in Baumgartner poker stands and falls with the sporting fate of TSG Hoffenheim. Baumgartner’s club, to which the Austrian is tied until June 2025, is in a relegation battle.
Should the Kraichgauer be relegated, Baumgartner would be available for a fixed fee of 15 million euros. Hoffenheim would have to pay interested parties twice the amount – 30 million.
Baumgartner was one of the sporting bright spots in the turbulent TSG season so far. With five goals and four assists, the national player is Sinsheim’s top scorer together with Andrej Kramaric.
