Nexa3D steps into metal printing. The American group can take this step following acquiring the SLS technology from XYZ and in collaboration with Headmade Materials. It is a ColdMetalFusion process. Initially, the technology will be available for three QLS printers.
Nexa3D released the SLS activities of XYZ printing taken over. It then acquired this entire business division, including the technology and the product line. In a strategic collaboration with Headmade Materials, the SLS process has been adapted for Headmade Materials’ ColdMetalFusion technology. It is a two-step process: following printing, the sintering step follows.

Metal injection molding properties
The printers from the QLS series now offer an industrial SLS platform for the production of polymers and metal parts. With a cycle speed of 24 hours and one 30-watt CO2 laser, the QLS 230 can produce metal parts with reliable metal injection molding-like properties. In fact, MIMplus Technologies, GmbH uses the QLS 230 in combination with ColdMetalFusion technology to successfully print industrial cutting tools. The company thus achieves large production savings compared to traditional production methods. In addition to tool steel, titanium is also available.
Complete offering around ColdMetalFusion
Nexa3D customers can now produce metal components with the QLS 230, QLS 236 and QLS 820 high-throughput SLS printers. Together with Headmade, Nexa3D will leverage the ecosystem around ColdMetalFusion and offer its customers access to decades of experience in sintering and traditional industrial manufacturing. Together the companies will be able to offer services, equipment, materials, software and know-how to customers in the metalworking industry.
Nexa3D offers metal printing worldwide through its existing reseller network.
