On Wednesday, August 28, the Command with Venezuela reported that unidentified individuals detained the leader Biagio Pilieri after his participation in the rally called by the opposition leader María Corina Machado on Francisco de Miranda Avenue, in Caracas, one month after the presidential elections.

In a post on social media X, the coalition stated that the opposition leader was last seen at the El Helicoide headquarters.

“The last location of Biagio Pilieri confirms his kidnapping and transfer to El Helicoide. He was with his son Jesús Pilieri,” the coalition added.

Previously, the opposition had reported that both Pilieri and the leader Juan Pablo Guanipa were being persecuted by unknown individuals.

2. The opposition gathered in Caracas and several states of the country after a month of elections

On Wednesday, August 28, dozens of people gathered in various parts of the country, in response to the call of opposition leader María Corina Machado to show support for Edmundo González.

6. Conmebol sanctioned Uruguayan footballers for incidents at the 2024 Copa América

The Disciplinary Commission of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) sanctioned the Uruguayan Football Association, 11 players of the Celeste and one of its leaders on Wednesday, August 28, following clashes with fans during a Copa América semi-final match in July, in which the Charrúa team lost 1-0 to Colombia.
