A group of workers from the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG), in Bolívar, reported that active personnel were offered a payment of 150 dollars to attend official meetings.

“They have us scared, they have us subjugated and they tell us that if we leave, we are out (…) Everyone has to fight for a better country, that their work is worth what it is worth,” said one of the protesters in a video published by journalist Francesca Díaz on X (formerly Twitter).

CVG workers also demanded that the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Elvis Amoroso, make a statement on the abuses committed during this presidential campaign.

3. A 3.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Lara state

On Thursday, July 18, the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis) recorded an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale in the state of Lara.

According to the agency, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 7 kilometers east of Barquisimeto and 43 kilometers northeast of Quibor.

So far today, Funvisis has not recorded any more seismic activity in Venezuela

Relatives of political prisoners gathered on Thursday, July 18, in front of the headquarters of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Caracas to demand freedom and an end to the chronic abuse of anti-terrorist legislation.

“Fighting for rights is not terrorism,” they assured the Venezuelan Program for Education and Action in Human Rights (Provea), which shared images of the protest in Parque Carabobo on its X account (formerly Twitter).
