Firefighters from the Capital District responded to two fires that occurred in less than 24 hours in San Bernardino and Panteón Avenue in Caracas.

The first fire was reported on the night of Sunday, July 14, in an abandoned structure located on Panteón Avenue, where solid waste was stored. Unofficially, it was learned that the incident was caused by a burning of garbage that spread to the abandoned structure.

The second fire occurred on the morning of Monday, July 15, when the Caracas Fire Department responded to a call to put out a fire in the Caracas building, located on La Estrella Avenue in San Bernardino, in the Libertador municipality.

According to the information, the authorities were able to control the flames because the fire was in its initial phase in the kitchen area. The fire brigade carried out extinguishing and cooling work to prevent a possible spread.

The Venezuelan Financial Observatory (OVF) predicts a decrease in the growth projection for July 2024 in its Economic Expectations Survey.

“The survey shows a slight decrease in the economic growth projection (-0.3%) associated with the uncertainty of the presidential elections on July 28 and its implications in terms of sanctions,” the organization explained on its X account (formerly Twitter) on Monday, July 15.

The OVF estimates that there will also be a reduction of -17.5% in inflation expectations for the end of 2024. This is due to the containment of the exchange rate. In addition, it projected that the exchange rate for the end of the year will remain at 40 Bs per dollar.
