News | In Marignane, a Ryanair flight canceled for lack of personnel, 170 passengers routed

They should already be in Palma de Mallorca, sipping a cocktail… Unfortunately for the passengers on Ryanair flight FR 5199, the trip turned into hell. Their plane, which was to take off this followingnoon at 2:15 p.m. from Marseille Provence airport, was delayed, then purely… canceled for lack of personnel.

“At 2:30 p.m. they announced that the flight was delayed.says Johanna, a passenger, member of a group of six adults and four children aged 6 to 12. At 4 p.m., they restarted boarding, we got on the plane around 5 p.m. Then they announced that a member of the flight crew was absent, and that 20 people had to be brought down to get the plane off the ground! They picked people off the list first, but that was revolutionary. The police came on board and asked for volunteers – there were only 16. So at 6:30 p.m. they disembarked everyone.”

On land, the company assured that the passengers would benefit from a flight tomorrow morning at 7 a.m., and would all be relocated.

Around 8 p.m. this evening, however, the 170 passengers were still waiting to know their fate. Johanna and her family preferred to return to spend the night at their home in Mollégès, in the Bouches-du-Rhône.

Asked, Ryanair has not responded to our request for the time being.
