The Publisher Steamforged has the rights for the development, production and distribution of “Altar Quest” acquired from Blacklist Games. The future of the co-op dungeon crawler no longer lies with the original publisher. Promoted as a modern spiritual successor to the classic HeroQuest, Altar Quest garnered around 600.000 $ via Kickstarter.

So far, Steamforged is best known for the board game adaptations of Dark Souls, Elden Ring and Monster Hunter. So on paper, the dungeon crawler Altar Quest fits in well with the rest of Steamforged’s catalog of games.

That’s what the game is regarding

In Altar Quest, each person chooses the role of a hero with their own cards and equipment. Players also choose a quest deck to take on, a threat deck to serve as the main enemy, and a sinister villain deck.

As the heroes try to complete their quest before catching the attention of the almighty villain, the unstable magic of the altars constantly affects the game. The Altar Dice are associated with the mystical powers known as “Rhune” which can enhance the cards in different ways. Each time an Altar Die is used (either by the heroes or the enemy), that die is rolled to create an ever-changing mix of Rhunes to draw upon.

Altar Quest is an epic fantasy adventure game that can be played as both a solo game and an immersive campaign.
