“North Korean firing is currently being heard,” said a text message sent to all residents on Sunday followingnoon, the details of which local officials confirmed to AFP.

“Troopers on Yeonpyeong Island are currently responding, but residents are advised to be cautious and stay outside,” the statement said.

On both Friday and Saturday, North Korea fired missiles at the same area, near Yongpyong and Bengjong, two sparsely populated islands south of the two countries’ de facto maritime border.
