News Agency: At least 13 killed in attack on UN school in Gaza

The news agency Reuters quoted the message from the official Palestinian news agency Wafa on Saturday afternoon about the number of victims in the attack. The school is located in the refugee camp in Nuseirat, which is just northeast of the city of Deir al-Balah.

The AP news agency has spoken to the Awda hospital, which says it has received eight people killed in the attack, including two children.

– We have received a large number of wounded, most of them children, says the hospital.

The Israeli military says it is investigating reports of the attack.

– Children and women

Al Jazeeras journalist Hind Khoudary reports from another hospital, al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah. She says there has been a stream of ambulances with wounded people arriving at the hospital in the last hour.

– Most of the ambulances were immediately directed to the part of the hospital where the families of those killed can say their last goodbyes, writes Khoudary.

Al Jazeera, which also quotes Wafa, writes that most of those killed were children and women, and that tens of people are said to have been injured.

Killed journalists and police officers

Israel has carried out a series of deadly airstrikes against the Gaza Strip on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, health personnel stated that at least ten people were killed in an airstrike against a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp. According to Palestinian sources, at least four journalists who worked for local media were also killed in an attack on the night of Saturday.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health says at least 87 people have been killed in Gaza in the past 48 hours. In Deir al-Balah, Palestinians said goodbye to five children, two women and five men who were killed in three separate attacks in the area on Friday and Saturday, according to hospital staff. The bodies were brought to al-Aqsa hospital, where AP journalists counted them on Saturday.
