News about a nuclear deal with Iran is imminent

After Russia retreated from its demands… and Tehran awaits Washington’s steps

Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney announced that an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program might be reached “within 48 hours,” adding that “there are good signs that an agreement is close.”

“We are very close to signing the agreement,” Coveney told the BBC. In fact, some might say that there are prospects of a deal being struck this weekend.”

The US network, CNBC, said that Russia has retracted its threat to torpedo the revival of the Iranian nuclear agreement due to the recent sanctions imposed on it for its invasion of Ukraine, which now opens the way for the Iranian agreement. She pointed out that some reports said that the parties participating in the Vienna talks were on the verge of reaching an agreement, until the West imposed comprehensive sanctions on Russia. Referring to Moscow’s backsliding, Coveney said: “It seems that this has been resolved recently. It looks as if we are on the verge of reaching an agreement in Vienna.” He added, “There is certainly now a possibility (for a solution), as this deal was already concluded 3 weeks ago, and certainly we in Europe are pleased with the text of the agreement.”

For its part, the Noor News website of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council said that the news reported by Western sources regarding reaching an agreement in the coming hours are not accurate…because everything depends on taking political steps by Washington.
