Data and a video clip published by the US space agency “NASA” revealed the beauty of winter on Mars, as it showed unique scenes of snow formation and snowfall on its poles.
And “NASA” said that the “Perseverance” vehicle was able to monitor pictures of an ancient river delta, which was feeding the Jezero crater billions of years ago.
According to the same sources, it is dust that leads to the formation of the weather on Mars, and dust usually heralds the advent of winter, but the planet is no stranger to snow, ice and frost. At the poles of Mars, temperatures can drop by less than negative 123 degrees Celsius.
There are also two types of ice on Mars, one is the type on Earth, which consists of frozen water, while the other type of Martian ice depends on carbon dioxide, or dry ice.
And a statement by “NASA” quoted the scientist specializing in Martian sciences, Sylvain Pico, as saying that there is enough snow falling on the Red Planet, to enable walking with snowshoes, and if you want to ski, you can go to a slope.
So far, no orbital vehicles or rovers have been able to see snowfall on the Red Planet, because the weather phenomenon only occurs at the poles under the cover of clouds at night, and cameras on orbital vehicles cannot see through the clouds, according to CNN.
But the Phoenix probe, which arrived at Mars in 2008, used one of its laser instruments to detect water ice snow from regarding 1,000 miles (1,609 kilometers) from Mars’ north pole.
