A medical team at the Department of Surgery at King Saud University Medical City succeeded in saving the life of a resident who was seriously injured as a result of falling on a number of iron bars.
Dr. Noura Al-Subaie, a consultant Accident and Trauma Surgery at the University Medical City, explained that the resident arrived at the emergency department following he was exposed to 3 skewers piercing his body and they settled in critical places.
And it showed that the first skewer penetrated the right part of the thigh area in line with the secondary and primary femoral artery and vein with the abdomen, along the major iliac arteries, all the way to the arteries of the right kidney and settled along the duodenum, resulting in a slight injury to the duodenum, while the second skewer penetrated the lower abdominal area below the navel, causing It injured the small intestine in 4 areas and settled in the upper part of the stomach following penetrating the back and front wall of the stomach. As for the third skewer, it was found that it penetrated the pelvis from the left side, which led to a double fracture on that side of the pelvis and settled along the spine without penetrating it.
She pointed out that the first skewer was extracted following controlling the major arteries, while the other two skewers were removed very carefully so as not to affect the organs surrounding the affected area with the restoration of the affected organs as a result of this injury.
