King Saud Medical City clarified that lupus erythematosus is a chronic autoimmune disease that mistakenly leads to inflammation in various body tissues, but it is not an infectious disease.
The city indicated that the disease affects the brain with headaches, memory loss, speed of forgetfulness and confusion, and as for the kidneys, they suffer from dysfunction and inflammation in their functions with foam or blood in the urine, in addition to an ulcer in the mouth, with chest pain and shortness of breath.
She pointed out that the symptoms of the disease include high temperature, fatigue and laziness, in addition to redness in the face in the form of a butterfly and the appearance of spots on the body with hair loss, in addition to joint and muscle pain.
She noted that the symptoms also include dryness in the eyes and change in the color of the toes to white or blue in the cold or high pressure, explaining that the symptoms differ from one person to another and may range from mild to severe.
