The Public Health Authority “Weqaya” said that water poisoning is a medical condition that occurs when there is a rapid decrease in the concentration of sodium in the blood due to an increase in the amount of water intake compared to the excretion of water in the kidneys.
She explained that water poisoning can occur when drinking large amounts of water 3-4 liters, equivalent to 12-16 cups, within a short period of one to two hours, noting that it rarely happens.
She advised that it be necessary to drink 8 glasses of water at intervals from Iftar to Suhoor, noting that the body does not store water, so it must be kept hydrated.
