News 24 | Prevention: This is what travelers should do to prevent monkeypox

The Public Health Authority “Weqaya” has identified a set of tips and procedures that travelers must adhere to to prevent monkeypox.

The authority advises delaying travel if the traveler has any symptoms similar to those of monkeypox, or the disease has actually been diagnosed, or the traveler has been in contact with a confirmed case and is still in the isolation period.

During travel, the authority recommends avoiding close contact with patients during travel, including people with skin or genital wounds, not sharing tools and personal items, avoiding activities that involve direct physical contact such as massage, etc., and staying away from crowded places and adhering to the muzzle, in addition to maintaining Wash hands with soap and water, and use hand sanitizer with a concentration of at least 60%.

She stressed the need to avoid contact with dead or live wild animals, including rats, squirrels and monkeys, and to avoid eating or preparing meat from wild animals, or using products derived from wild animals from Africa such as creams and lotions, and wearing safety and personal protection tools such as gloves, muzzle and others in case Traveling to work with animals, stressing the importance of self-isolation and seeking health care if any symptoms similar to the disease appear.

In the event that symptoms similar to the disease appear following returning from travel, the authority advises isolating the traveler for himself from others, and communicating with the Ministry of Health Center 937 to receive appropriate guidance from them and to review the health facility to receive the necessary health care.
