The Public Health Authority “Weqaya” clarified the appropriate number of hours of sleep every day that each family member needs according to his age, whether he is a child, a young person or an elderly person.
It showed that children aged 6-12 years need 9 to 12 hours of good sleep for every 24 hours, while adolescents, aged 13-17 years, need 8 to 10 hours, and it is preferable that the hours of sleep and wake-up be constant.
The commission recommends sleeping for 7 to 9 hours for young people and adults from 18 to 64 years of age, with regular sleep and wake times.
Weqaya also advised the elderly, 65 years of age and over, to sleep for 7 to 8 hours or more, with regular bedtime and wake-up times.
