News 24 | New conditions for managing private medical clinics and complexes

The amendment to the private health institutions system approved by the Council of Ministers includes new conditions that must be met to manage clinics and medical complexes.

The conditions included that the owner of the clinic be a Saudi doctor who specializes in the nature of the clinic’s work, supervises it, and is fully dedicated to it.

In every complex, radiology center, medical laboratory, or one-day surgery center, there must be a supervisor, and the supervisor is required to be a professional doctor specialized in the nature of the work of the complex, whether he is its owner, one of the partners in it, or others.

The conditions of the supervisor included that he be fully dedicated for this purpose and of a Saudi nationality, and if the nationality condition is not fulfilled, the supervisor may be of another nationality as determined by the implementing regulations of this system.

The amendment also stipulated that the management of private health institutions be limited to Saudis with appropriate qualifications, and this amendment is excluded in some cities and governorates in accordance with the controls specified by the executive regulations.
