News 24 | It goes through 6 stages.. This is what happens to the donated blood until it reaches the patient

The second Riyadh Health Cluster reviewed the cycle of benefiting from the donated blood until it reaches the patient in need.

He explained that the cycle of benefiting from donated blood goes through 6 stages, starting with withdrawing 450 ml of donated blood, and then transferring it to the laboratory for the necessary tests, where the blood is separated into 3 main components: red blood cells, plasma, and platelets.

He added that the next step is to examine the units of blood components, perform quality tests, then store and prepare blood components for transport directly, and finally transfer those components to patients.
