King Saud Medical City clarified that gout is a form of arthritis, in which the proportion of uric acid (uric acid) in the blood increases, causing severe joint pain.
She added that gout pain may be accompanied by inflammation, swelling, redness and high body temperature, indicating that the pain may affect one or more joints, usually in the big toe joint.
She pointed out that gout occurs due to the presence of chemicals in the blood that are intended for uric acid, adding that there are specific foods that increase the level of this acid, such as meat, legumes, or diuretic drugs.
She indicated that obesity, high blood pressure or diabetes might be one of the causes of gout, pointing out that the disease can be prevented by taking care to lose weight and avoiding food that contains protein.
