The Ministry of Health advised to follow 6 steps to quit smoking, while adhering to some guidelines related to how to deal with smoking stimuli.
The ministry explained that the steps to quit smoking include controlling the peak of smoking, engaging in another activity, leaving the place and returning to it, setting a date for quitting and informing those close to it, taking advantage of failed attempts to quit and considering them as steps towards it, and obtaining support from friends and specialized institutions.
She pointed out that smoking triggers include drinking coffee, smoking at work, withdrawal symptoms during quitting, strong feelings, as well as public events, being with smoking friends, long waiting periods and watching movies.
She noted that dealing with smoking stimuli is by replacing smoke with other things such as toothpicks and rosary, avoiding social events that stimulate smoking, consulting specialists and doctors to avoid withdrawal symptoms, and using nuts and snacks while watching and waiting.
