The Ministry of Health enumerated the advantages and benefits of quitting smoking, and its impact on health, after years of this positive step.
The ministry indicated that after 5 years of quitting smoking, the risk of stroke decreases to that of a smoker after 5 to 15 years.
She noted that after 10 years, the risk of developing lung cancer is reduced by half, and the risk of developing cancer of the mouth, throat and esophagus decreases.
She added that within 15 years, the risk of coronary heart disease decreases, and becomes equal to that of non-smokers
