The Ministry of Health has revealed the health risks of lack of sleep for long periods, including increased heart rate and high blood pressure, as part of the “Your Sleep Your Day” initiative.
The ministry explained that the risks of lack of sleep on the health of the body also include the rise of some chemicals that cause multiple heart problems, as well as the increased chances of obesity, as it reduces the secretion of the hormone “leptin” responsible for feeling full.
She advised avoiding caffeine hours before bed, sticking to the times of bed and waking up, avoiding heavy meals late at night, and using thick or dark curtains or an eye mask to avoid waking up due to light.
She also advised using earplugs to block out noise, taking a warm bath an hour before bed, reading a book, and finally avoiding watching TV or using mobile devices in the bedroom.
