The Ministry of Health reviewed the methods of first aid, how to properly deal with a person with an epileptic seizure, and the time needed to call an ambulance.
The ministry indicated that when a person suffers an epileptic seizure, he should be avoided except for extreme necessity, and sharp objects close to him should be removed, in addition to placing a soft piece under the victim’s head, moving it on one side to maintain his breathing, and avoiding placing anything in his mouth.
She noted the need to call an ambulance if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes, or if the epileptic seizure recurs once more, as well as when breathing does not return to normal, or the victim’s body is harmed during the epileptic seizure.
She recommended dealing with the injured person calmly following the case ends, and the person’s commitment to taking medications and periodic follow-up with the doctor.
