News 24 | Gulf Health explains the reasons for feeling lethargic after eating in Ramadan

The Health Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council states the reasons for feeling lethargic for many people following eating during the holy month of Ramadan.

He indicated that the causes of inactivity lie in the type of food, as meals that contain both carbohydrates and protein can increase the feeling of fatigue, due to the production of the chemical serotonin that plays a role in regulating mood and sleep cycles.

He noted that eating a large meal leads to a rise in blood sugar, and this may be followed by a decrease in energy, as well as a lack of sleep at night, which leads to fatigue throughout the day.
