King Fahd Medical City has warned once morest making harsh diets an option to lose weight, warning of their negative effects on human public health.
She explained that when losing weight quickly, the level of the satiety hormone and the process of burning fat decreases, and thus the person feels hungry as soon as he leaves the diet and returns to his previous diet, and begins to gain weight due to the low rate of burning.
She pointed out that an unhealthy diet makes a person vulnerable to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and other diseases related to obesity.
She indicated that it is preferable to lose weight gradually by following a healthy diet and exercise to maintain the lost weight, stressing that when losing weight very quickly, the body loses fluids and muscle mass instead of fat.
And she showed that the healthy rate of weight loss is half a kilogram to a kilogram per week.
She stressed the need not to expect weight loss in a day and night, especially since the body did not gain it in a day and night, stressing that the process of losing weight requires time and effort because it depends on changing the lifestyle for the better.
