News 24 | Customs denies allowing the sale of alcohol in duty-free shops

Today (Friday), the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority confirmed that alcohol is not allowed to be sold in duty-free markets at various outlets.

The authority said, in response to an inquiry in this regard, that: “Alcohol is one of the substances that is not allowed to be sold in free markets, according to the rules and requirements for establishing free markets.”

It is noteworthy that “Zakat and Customs” revealed, earlier, the Customs rules, conditions and procedures Concerning the establishment of free shops in the air, sea and land ports.

She explained that the rules allow the entry of all foreign goods of any kind and whatever their origin into free markets, and their removal from them outside the Kingdom or to other free markets without being subject to customs duties.
