A consultant cardiologist and arterial catheter, Dr. Khaled Al-Nimr, explained that the use of omega-3 drugs to treat high hereditary LDL cholesterol is not the ideal treatment.
Al-Nimer showed that omega-3 reduces triglycerides by 25%-30%, but raises LDL cholesterol by a simple 5-8%.
He stressed that in a healthy person, a doctor should be consulted, if the triglycerides (TG), as well as the bad cholesterol (LDL) rise to more than 130 and the total cholesterol reaches more than 200.
Al-Nimr added: We advise any healthy person aged 25 years and above to do a blood fat analysis, if it is normal, repeat it following 5 years, and if it is abnormal, treat it and if it is close to the height limit, repeat it annually to control it.
