The Saudi Center for Organ Transplant succeeded in saving the lives of 5 patients by donating the organs of a brain-dead girl.
The center stated that a citizen agreed to donate the organs of his twenty-year-old daughter, who was brain-dead, to 5 people who had suffered from organic deficiencies.
He indicated that 4 organs were removed, benefiting 5 patients who suffered from organic deficiency diseases, indicating that the organs that benefited are the heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health announced today (Monday) the success of a specialized medical team in transferring the organs of a brain-dead patient at Al-Qunfudhah General Hospital to another patient at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh.
The ministry added that this operation is the first of its kind in Al-Qunfudah Governorate, and several steps have been taken, including coordination with the relatives of the brain-dead donor, and preparing the operating room.
She confirmed that a specialized medical team was hired through air evacuation, and field ambulance teams were prepared to follow up the transfer procedures in order to complete the transfer of organs.
Such operations are in line with the objectives of the organ donation program of the Saudi Organ Center, which was established by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
