Part of the western tower of the historic Sahoud Palace collapsed in the city of Mubarraz, in the center of Al-Ahsa, less than a year and a half following its maintenance following its previous collapse.
Circulating pictures showed the partial collapse of the western tower of the palace, which is one of the most famous castles of the first Saudi state, registered on the National Heritage List, while no injuries or material damages were recorded on passersby.
In November 2020, the Heritage Authority began Inspection and damage assessment works for the historic Qasr Sahoud site بال .حساءAfter the partial collapse of one of its walls for structural reasons, I sent a specialized team to inspect the site, in order to urgently carry out restoration operations, to restore the original condition of the wall.
The Sahoud Palace is a heritage monument. Its age extends back to the seventh century AH. It is surrounded by a high wall with seven conical watchtowers. It was named “Sahoud” in reference to a large cannon that was erected in it.
