He explained that the researchers found clear evidence that co-infection with influenza virus and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) can generate infectious hybrid viral particles that contain structural and functional components of both.
He stressed that this means that they do not compete, but rather support each other in causing disease and evading immunity.
