Egyptian businessman Nassef Sawiris maintained his top spot on the list of the richest Arab billionaires for 2022, with a net worth of $7.7 billion, despite his fortune dropping by $600 million from last year, according to Forbes magazine’s annual ranking of the world’s richest.
The Forbes list of the richest Arabs for 2022 saw their number drop from 22 to 21 billionaires, and their total wealth decreased to $52.9 billion, compared to $53.4 billion in the previous year.
Billionaire Issad Rebrab and his family ranked second, with a fortune estimated at $5.1 billion. In third place came Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and his brother Taha, with a fortune estimated at 3.2 billion dollars, following their fortunes increased by 700 million dollars this year.
Egypt and Lebanon have the largest number of Arab billionaires, with 6 billionaires each. The combined net worth of Egyptian billionaires is $18.3 billion, and they are the brothers Mohamed, Youssef and Yassin Mansour, and the brothers Nassef and Naguib Sawiris, and Mohamed Al-Fayed.
The net worth of Lebanese billionaires is $12.6 billion. Among them are the two brothers Najib and Taha Mikati, and the Hariri family Bahaa, Ayman and Fahd.
The UAE has 3 billionaires on the 2022 list: Hussain Sajwani, Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Ghurair and the family, and Abdullah Al Futtaim and the family. Morocco was represented on the list by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and bank businessman Othman Benjelloun and his family. Qatar was represented by Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani and Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani.
