King Saud Medical City has identified 7 health benefits that the body will receive, in the event of obtaining an adequate amount of sleep, in the forefront of which is to give the body the energy needed to exercise more activity during the day.
The city explained that getting enough sleep helps the body fight disease by boosting the immune system’s defensive response and reducing the risks of high blood pressure and heart attacks.
She added that good sleep reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, by helping the body maintain appropriate blood sugar levels.
She indicated that the benefits that the body will reap from adequate sleep is weight control, as this helps the body regulate the hormones that control appetite and metabolism.
She noted that the benefits of adequate sleep also include mental safety, as good sleep helps reduce feelings of frustration, anxiety and depression, as well as enhance cognitive abilities in addition to helping focus and thinking.
