A new section of the A9 motorway between Brig and Leuk was opened to traffic on Friday. This is the 2.5 kilometer section between Gampel-Steg and Raron. Next step: the opening of the Visp bypass planned for 2024/25.
The first vehicles took the “Schnidrigu – Wanne west” section in both directions in the followingnoon, following an official inauguration in the presence of Valentina Kumpusch, Deputy Director of the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO), and Valais authorities. With a length of 2.5 kilometres, the section is located between Gampel-Steg and the western basin of the Raron cut-and-cover section.
A total of 22 million francs have been invested in this achievement, including for operating and safety equipment, the State of Valais communicated on Friday.
