New Zealand Foreign Minister: The disaster in Gaza must end immediately

Turkey – New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters said that the catastrophe in Gaza must end immediately, and not continue for another day or even an additional hour.

This came in a press conference, yesterday, Friday, held with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul.

Peters described his visit to Turkey as “special,” and pointed out that Türkiye and his country have an unusual relationship.

He stated that the relations between the peoples of the two countries converged in a different way with the Battle of Çanakkale, and that the generosity of the Turkish people is an example that many countries should emulate.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, the New Zealand Foreign Minister stressed that his country has supported the two-state solution for a long time, calling for an end to the war today.

Peters indicated that they support the two-state solution in order to achieve lasting peace, and that they believe that recognition of the State of Palestine will take place after the solution is implemented.

The New Zealand Foreign Minister stressed that “the catastrophe in Gaza should not continue for another day or another hour.”

On April 25 of each year, Australia and New Zealand commemorate “Anzac Day,” which is the day on which their forces landed at dawn on the shores of the Gallipoli Peninsula in Çanakkale.

The Gallipoli region witnessed the battles of Çanakkale in 1915 between the Ottoman Empire and the allies, as British, French, New Zealand, and Australian forces attempted to occupy Istanbul, the capital of the Ottoman Empire at that time, and the attempt failed.

At that time, these battles cost the Ottoman Empire more than 250,000 martyrs, while the invading forces suffered approximately the same number, especially from the “Anzac” forces.
