New York’s Ram Mandir float launch program sparks controversy – World

A Hindu organization has opposed the float of Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi temple in the annual India Independence Day parade in New York.

The Council on American Muslim Relations and the Indian American Muslim Council, as well as the group Hindus for Human Rights, have said that displaying the Ram Temple float in India’s Independence Day parade would offend Muslims.

The three organizations have written a letter to New York Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Cathy Hoechl, saying that the Ram Temple is an insult to Muslims because it replaced the historic Babri Masjid by martyrs. has gone and the Muslims have been given a far away place to build the Babri Masjid.

The letter to the mayor and governor of New York also states that constitutionally India is a secular state and as such, no float or display of any religious building or any other such object during India’s Independence Day parade. It cannot be done which shows the religious identity of the country and can give the impression to the world that India is a Hindu state through and through.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams made it clear at a press conference this week that no items likely to offend or spread hatred will be allowed in India’s annual Independence Day parade.
