Longtime singer and songwriter of the rock band Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie, has died at the age of 79. The band announced this on Wednesday on their official social media channel. “There are no words that can express our sadness at her passing,” the statement said. “She was truly one of a kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician you might have in your band and the best friend you might have in your life.”

Christine McVie, married to bassist John McVie until 1977, wrote and sang some of the band’s biggest hits, including “Don’t Stop,” which was written during the split.

She was part of the cast that released the million-selling album Rumors in 1977. As early as 1968, when Peter Green was still in the group, she played keyboards on the album «Mr. Wonderful». In 1995 she left Fleetwood Mac, but then continued to play on some of their albums and released several solo records.

On February 25, 2020, she was among the musicians called to London by Mick Fleetwood to celebrate the music of Peter Green – “Celebrate the Music of Peter Green” – in a concert.
